Andrology

What is Andrology?

The special field of male medicine, also known as "male medicine", is explained in simple terms, the "counterpart" of gynaecology. This medical speciality deals, among other things, with reproductive disorders, sex development and also with the general sexuality of men. Men's medicine should therefore always be considered in connection with gynaecology, since here a direct, mutual influence of the two disciplines is obvious. Thus, for example, disorders of reproductive ability or sexuality in men always also have effects on the corresponding partner.
Menopause in Men

Scientific results and numerous studies in recent years have clearly shown that men are also affected by the "symptoms of menopause".

Symptoms such as listlessness, fatigue, hot flushes, hair loss as well as decreasing muscle strength, potency and libido can be the result. Hormone deficiency during the andropause can also lead to serious illnesses such as osteoperosis.

What are Androgens?

To put it simply, androgens are the male estrogens and can therefore be described as the male sex hormones.
Testosterone is produced to approx. 95% in the testicles and to approx. 5% in the adrenal glands. It is responsible for the body structure, the function of the sex organs, as well as the libido, potency and the general joie de vivre.

Triggers for a drop in androgen levels may be, among other things:
  • Overweight
  • Sustained fasting
  • Emotional or physical stress
  • Alcohol and drugs
  • Serious illnesses
  • And many more.
